Long busy day today. We got up before the crack of dawn to attend the hot air balloon rally. I've been hot air ballooning many years ago, and in the town where I grew up there was a group of avid balloonists and often they would drift over our house and hang over the lake. Periodically as many as four or five would go up. It was nothing like standing in the middle of a field and watching a whole bunch of 'em inflating all around one and then drifting up into the heavens. It was like a garden of giant silk flours blossoming. (I'll try not to get too poetic.) In any case, all very nice, not overcrowded, and friendly people. The dog did well. Other dogs were, of course, more exciting to him than the balloons. I still can't help but wonder how his little dog brain processed it all.
From the farm field we headed out to The Shed for breakfast. My wayfinding skills were excellent once again. Apparently I'm getting the hang of the various cross streets. I had a breakfast enchilada, and MB had Migas, which I may try next time. It was a very nice breakfast after being out in the chill morning air (not as chill, of course, as Maine).
From The Shed, we went on to the new house so I could show MB around, and then we walked into Mesilla, peeked in a few shops. The dog was duly admired at La Zia. We paused for mochas at the Bean, and then back to the house. From there, MB wanted to get closer to the mtns, so up to the mtns we went, and walked a little on one of the trails.
From there, it was back to the rental house, our computers, and lunch. I made chili for dinner, and then we got caught up in watching some cable shows. And here we are. I've had a sore-ish throat since this afternoon, and now my head is starting to feel "wrong." Oh well. Tomorrow we may go hang out at Barnes & Noble (I haven't been there yet) and I'm sure find enough mischief, but no getting up at the crack of dawn.
Looks like my editor will be visiting in February.
