All About Town

The final paperwork drama for the house and its utilities is now done and over with. ::knock on wood:: What a pain in the @$$.

I continued to hone my navigational skills today, driving hither and yon. We tried to get lunch at the local brew pub, but thir gas line was down, so no cooking. So, we backtracked to a mom 'n pop Mexican restaurant. C & D had taken me there on one of my visits, and it's a popular eatery. Today its patrons included two cops, blue collar guys, business people, retired folk, some ladies in scrubs, etc. So it was a good alternative to the brew pub, which we'll hopefully return to. Then it was off for MB to get a therapeutic massage from C., while I hoofed it to City Hall to finish the paperwork thing. After that, we delved into the local, very expansive, used book store. I picked up a Kate Elliot book, and a new book on the pony express. Off to a couple markets we went, then home briefly to liberate the dog. And then off to the Chinese buffet place. (Ruth, I tried the hot and sour soup and it was excellent.) I was going to try a spicy octopus. I put it on my plate, brought it to the table, but then I just couldn't do it. I've eaten tentacle rings, but not a whole baby octopus. So I went on to dessert.

Back at home we sipped hot toddies as MB has a cold, and spent a quiet rest of the evening. Tomorrow is the farmer's market--I have no idea what it's like on Wednesdays, but we'll give it a try, then we meet with Merry Maids at the new house for a consultation/estimate to rid it of the seller's cooties. More objects are likely to be left by the side of the road for scavengers.

Busy, busy week.

I do love a good hot & sour soup.

Good to hear the paperwork is done & things are moving forward. (Did you guys smudge yet?)
